INDIAN WEATHER FORECAST

CHIEF FEATURES

  Maximum temperature are near / below normal over most parts of plains of northwest India and central India. The current meteorological analysis suggests that present scenario is likely to continue over above regions during next 2-3 days.

  In association with north-south trough extending from Bihar to north Andhra Pradesh, east and northeastern parts of the country are likely to experience isolated to scattered rain/thundershowers activity accompanied with squall during next 48 hours.

  The rainfall activity has increased considerably over Andaman & Nicobar islands. The current meteorological analysis suggests that with the strengthening of southwesterly winds, widespread rainfall activity with isolated heavy falls is likely over Andaman & Nicobar islands during next 3 days.

  Highest maximum temperature of 42.6˚C in the country was recorded at Nagpur (Maharashtra) and Nizamabad (Andhra Pradesh).

NORTHWEST INDIA

[J & K, H. P., UTTARAKHAND, DELHI, PUNJAB, HARYANA, WEST UP]

  Rain/thundershower likely at a few places over Jammu & Kashmir, Himachal Pradesh and Uttarakhand during next 24 hours and isolated thereafter.

  Isolated duststorm/thundersquall is likely over the rest region.

EAST INDIA

[EAST UP, BIHAR, JHARKHAND, WEST BENGAL & SIKKIM, ORISSA]

   Isolated rain/thundershower likely over region.

NORTHEAST INDIA

[Arunachal Pradesh, NMM &T, Assam, Meghalaya,]

   Rain/thundershower likely at a few places over the region till tomorrow and isolated thereafter.

SOUTH INDIA

[TN, AP, KERALA, KARNATAKA, ANDAMAN & NICOBAR ISLANDS, LAKSHADWEEP]

  Isolated rain/thundershowers likely over Andaman & Nicobar Islands, south Tamil Nadu, Kerala and Lakshadweep.

  Isolated rain/thundershowers likely over south Tamil Nadu, Kerala, Lakshadweep, South Interior Karnataka and Coastal Andhra Pradesh.

  Mainly dry weather is likely over the rest region.

WEST INDIA

[GOA, MAHARASHTRA (OTHER THAN VIDARBHA), GUJARAT, RAJASTHAN]

  Isolated duststorm/thunderstorm is likely over Rajasthan.

  Mainly dry weather is likely over the rest region.

CENTRAL INDIA

[ M. P., CHHATTISGARH, VIDARBHA]

   Isolated rain/thundershower is likely over Chhattisgarh and Madhya Pradesh.

   Mainly dry weather is likely over the rest region.

WARNING

  Isolated heavy rainfall is likely over Andaman & Nicobar Islands.

  Isolated squall is likely over Jammu & Kashmir, Himachal Pradesh, Uttarakhand, Punjab, West Bengal & Sikkim and Orissa.

Weather Outlook from 1430 IST of 12th May to 1430 IST of 14th May, 2008 (Based on numerical weather products):

  Isolated rain/thundershowers activity is likely to continue over northwest India.

  Increase in rainfall activity over extreme south peninsula.
