 Militants wanted to garland Rahul with grenades
NEW DELHI: Garlanding of Rahul Gandhi with grenades before kidnapping him to put up their demands was the 'plan' of the three Jaish-e-Mohammed (JeM) militants nabbed in Uttar Pradesh last week, interrogation of them has revealed, official sources said.

The detailed interrogation of Mohammed Abid, Yusuf and Mirza Rashid, arrested in Lucknow last week, by personnel of the central security agencies, revealed that they would have garlanded the young Gandhi with grenades before taking him hostage.

 Nandigram: CRPF protests release of CPM worker
NEW DELHI: Taking exception to the action of Kolkata Police, CRPF has alleged that they released an influential CPM worker who was detained by the para-military force for threatening people in a village at Nandigram.

According to CRPF sources, the CRPF jawans picked up Anup Mondal, an hardcore CPM worker, from his house in Sonachura area of Nandigram for allegedly threatening the people in his locality.

 PMK, Left parties protest in Delhi demanding reservations for OBCs
New Delhi, Nov 22: Pattali Makkal Katachi (PMK) and the Left parties took out a rally here today demanding additional quota for students of the Other Backward Classes (OBCs) in state-run colleges.

The protestors led by S. Ramadoss, the PMK founder and president, criticised the apex court for passing a stay order on implementation of OBC quotas in the Central institutions of higher learning.

 India sends relief to cyclone-hit Bangladesh
New Delhi, Nov 22 : An Indian Air Force transport plane carrying relief material for cyclone victims in Bangladesh, left for Dhaka from New Delhi on Thursday.

"We are carrying relief material from people of India for people of Bangladesh. We are flying from Delhi to Dhaka and we are carrying relief material of about 38 to 40 tonnes. This consists of bandages, ready to eat food material along with medicines," said Wing Commander J. Narula of the Indian Air Force.

 Uphaar case: Delhi court to pronounce quantum of sentence on Friday
New Delhi, Nov 22 : A Delhi Sessions Court will pronounce the quantum of sentence to 12 persons, who were convicted in connection with the 1997 Uphaar Cinema Hall blaze case, on Friday.

The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) has demanded a maximum punishment while the defence has sought for mercy and probation.
